Tea Garden Manager Kidnapped, Hefty Ransom Demanded

By a Staff Reporter

Dispur, February 31: Tea Garden Manager Mr. X was kidnapped by terrorists yesterday at 4 a.m. The incident took place at Sibsagar Tea Estate, Assam. The kidnapping has spread panic in the locality.

       According to the Police of Sibsagar station and the workers of the estate, the behaviour of the manager had been very strange since past few days as if someone were threatening him. Last day before yesterday he visited the tea estate and expressed his apprehension regarding unknown death threats. Yesterday morning he was found missing in his room. Later in the evening an unknown phone call came and demanded a ransom of Rs. 20,000,00. It was also directed not to inform the Police.

       However, the Police of Sibsagar were informed about the kidnapping. They have started their investigation.  The workers of the tea estate have been detained  for enquiry purpose. An FIR has also been lodged in the Police station. The Assam Government has ordered for rescue operation. The paramilitary forces have been deployed in the tea estate area.  The Police personnel have started an intensive search for the abductors.

 BUS SKIDS OFF, 3 DEAD & 70 INJURED

Murshidabad, February 26: At least 3 persons died and 70 were injured in a bus accident. The accident took place at  Beladanga yesterday morning at 10 am. 

The bus 'Golden Bird' was coming from Baharampur and going to Beldanga. There is a dangerous curve on NH 34 near Beldanga. According to eyewitnesses, the driver had been running the bus at a high speed. The 73 passengers in the bus warned him not to drive so fast. But the driver did not pay any attention. At the turning, when a loaded lorry had been coming from the opposite side, the bus driver could not control the steering. At last the bus skidded off the road, fell into a gorge and  overturned. Three passengers including a woman died in the spot, seventy others were injured.

The locals rushed to the spot and started initial rescue operation. The injured passengers were sent to nearby hospital. The agitated people then set fire to the vehicles and blocked the road. The police arrived at the place and started lathicharging to disperse the mob. They cleared the traffic jam and restored normalcy within few hours.

>> একলব্য ব্যাধরাজ হিরণ্যধনুর পুত্র। ছেলেবেলা হইতেই অস্ত্রবিদ্যা শিক্ষা করিবার প্রবল ইচ্ছা ছিল। সেসময় দ্রোণাচার্যের যশ বহু দূরে ছড়াইয়া পড়িয়াছিল। লোকে বলে তো যে তাঁহার ন্যায় বীর সমগ্র ভারতে তার নাই। একলব্যের বড়ই ইচ্ছা হইল যে দ্রোণের নিকট অস্ত্রবিদ্যা শিখবে। একদিন একলব্য দ্রোণাচার্যের শিষ্য হইবার আশায় তাহার নিকট গমন করিল। কিন্তু দ্রোণ বাধ্য পুত্রের শুরু হইতে স্বীকৃত হইলেন না। তখন একলব্য ভগ্নহৃদয়ে সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করিয়া গভীর মনের প্রবেশ করিল। সেখানে একটি কুটির নির্মাণ করিল এবং দ্রোণের একটি প্রতিমূর্তি গড়িয়া তাহার সম্মুখে একাগ্ৰচিওে অস্ত্রবিদ্যা অভ্যাস করিতে লাগিল।

 

>>Eklavya was the son of Hiranyadhanu, the king of Huntsmen. From his childhood he had an ardent  desire to learn archery. At that time  Dronacharya's glory spread far and wide. It was told that heroes like him could not be found anywhere in the whole India. One day Eklavya visited to Dronacharya with the hope of becoming his disciple. But Drona refused to be the tutor of the son of a huntsman. Then Eklavya, being broken-hearted, left the place and entered a dense forest. There he built up a cottage, made a statue of Drona and started practising archery attentively.
